Amy has proudly lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming since age 11. She graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1996 with a BSN, and in 2004 with a MSN. She serves in the Wyoming Army National Guard as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Amy’s talent and passion lies in strategic planning, public relations, public speaking, leadership, connecting people together, and making a difference. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, running, and creating a better tomorrow.
Dr. Surdam was born and raised in Laramie, Wyoming. He graduated from Colorado College in 1997 and Creighton Medical School in 2002. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX. He served at the Medical Director of the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Emergency Department and the Operations Manager of Cheyenne Regional Urgent Care for many years and was previous owner of Frontier Emergency Physicians. Dr. Surdam has owned a billing company and several urgent care centers in Wyoming and Texas. He is a true entrepreneur with a desire to help Wyoming and its people gain better access to quality, affordable healthcare. Dr. Surdam enjoys golf, fishing, travel, and spending time with his family, especially his beautiful wife.
Stacey has a deep passion for caring for others and has held many clinical positions where she has been able to make a difference in people’s lives. After two years as a police, fire and emergency dispatcher, she moved to Cheyenne to work for the ambulance service and then furthered her medical career in the Emergency Department at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Stacey is now very excited to be the Practice Administrator for both Stitches Acute Care locations, and looks forward to ensuring that the Laramie and Cheyenne communities have a wonderful experience being cared for at Stitches. Stacey was named 2017’s Wyoming Business Report Wyoming Woman of Influence in Healthcare.
MA, Occupational Medicine and Billing/Accounts Manager
Olivia was born and raised in Laramie, WY and graduated from Laramie High School. Olivia started with Stitches Acute Care in Laramie as a Medical Receptionist in 2015, and then quickly realized her love for the medical field and began and completed her Certified Clinical Medical Assistant program with Laramie/Cheyenne LCCC 2018. She is fluent in Spanish. In 2017 Olivia was promoted to the Occupational Medicine and Billing/Accounts Manager and now assisting in both clinics Laramie and Cheyenne with billing, medical assistant, occupational medicine. Olivia also assists in outreach for Stitches Acute Care which will benefit local businesses and the community. Olivia is passionate in customer service and her community. Olivia enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching the Wyoming Cowboys and music.

Chris was born and raised in West Virginia and has lived in Wyoming for 20 years. He served as a medic, artilleryman and PA in the Army National Guard before retiring. Chris completed PA school through the military while earning both Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Nebraska. He has two beautiful daughters and loves fishing.
MCHS, MS, PA-C
Graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the military’s Interservice Physician Assistant Program in December 2010. Michael has been in the military service since January 2004 and is currently in the Wyoming Army National Guard. He has had one deployment to Afghanistan as a Physician Assistant with the 10th Mountain Division out of Fort Drum, NY. Family Medicine was Michael’s primary focus of training but he also loves Emergency Medicine, Trauma Medicine, and Acute Care. He is a husband and father of four amazing children.
Joslyn is a Wyoming native. She is a graduate of the University of Wyoming and received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree while there. Joslyn is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and American Nurses Credentialing Center. Her career has consisted of caring for others in various realms of medicine with ten plus years in acute care centers. Joslyn is thrilled to be a part of Stitches Acute Care team and strives to provide her patients with the highest quality of care.
Katie is a graduate of Creighton University. Katie has been in nursing since 2008 and has been working as a Nurse Practitioner for the last 7 years in the primary/acute care setting. Katie has been caring for the population of Cheyenne since 2013. She is available for Urgent Care needs as well as Primary Care. Katie is passionate about adolescent and adult health and helping patients achieve their health goals and best level of wellness.
Outside of work, Katie stays busy spending time with her two daughters and husband. She enjoys camping, sandy beaches, and exercise when she can fit it in!
Stephanie received her Master’s Degree in Nursing at the University of Alabama in 2007 and her
Doctorate Degree at the University of Colorado in 2015. She is board certified in Family Practice as well
as Emergency Medicine by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as well as the American Academy
of Nurse Practitioners. Stephanie’s career has included work in Cardiology, Neuro Trauma, Urgent Care,
and Emergency Medicine. Stephanie is also a Captain with the Wyoming Army National Guard.
Stephanie enjoys hiking, camping, traveling and spending time with her family.
Dr. Weixelman grew up in Fort Collins and moved to Illinois for awhile, completing nursing school and worked as an emergency room nurse. After medical school, she returned to the area and finished her Family Medicine Residency in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She has worked in Family Medicine and Urgent Care since completing residency, working in Wellington, Red Feather Lakes and Fort Collins. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and has completed fellowships in Emergency Medicine, Aerospace Medicine, Wilderness Medicine and Emergency Ultrasound. She is adjunct faculty with UC Health, a Flight Surgeon in the Air National Guard in Wyoming, and has deployed to Afghanistan, Kuwait and Qatar. For the last 16 years she has served as a member of the Larimer County Search and Rescue Team. She is also member of the Red Feather Lakes Volunteer Fire Department. She loves to educate the public on First Aid awareness and teaches CPR, Wilderness First Aid and Wilderness First Responder as well as Stop the Bleed programs. Whenever she can, she is outside enjoying the outdoors. Dr. Weixelman lives in Livermore with her husband.
Amanda Aguilar earned her Master’s of Science Degree from the University of Northern Colorado and is board certified as Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in 2007 also from the University of Northern Colorado. She has been practicing as a Nurse Practitioner in the Emergency Room in Cheyenne, Wyoming since 2015 and has a great passion in caring for all individuals across the lifespan. Amanda has a broad experience of providing medical care in a variety of settings to include emergency medicine, inpatient acute care/hospital setting, and in long-term care.
As a Colorado native, she embraces an active lifestyle and spends the majority of her time outdoors with her daughter and husband. Amanda values and promotes health and fitness and loves to involve her family in her endeavors. She thoroughly enjoys traveling and experiencing and learning new cultures. She and her husband are active in the community and enjoy being a part of and volunteering with United Way of Weld County.
James Petersen has been a Physician Assistant for 18 years with experience in orthopedics, physical medicine, pain management, and aesthetics. The last 12 years have been in the urgent care setting. He graduated with honors from Cook County Hospital PA program in Chicago and received his masters degree from ATSU in Physician Assistant studies. Prior to becoming a PA, Jim was a paramedic for over 25 years. He has been in Colorado the last 18 years. He spends his free time enjoying the great outdoors with his kids.
