Stacey Cook, Executive Assistant
Stacey has a deep passion for caring for others and has held many clinical positions where she has been able to make a difference in people’s lives. After two years as a police, fire and emergency dispatcher, she moved to Cheyenne to work for the ambulance service and then furthered her medical career in the Emergency Department at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Stacey is now very excited to be the Practice Administrator for both Stitches Acute Care locations, and looks forward to ensuring that the Laramie and Cheyenne communities have a wonderful experience being cared for at Stitches. Stacey was named 2017’s Wyoming Business Report Wyoming Woman of Influence in Healthcare.

April Kranz, MD
Dr. April Kranz graduated from Central High School here in Cheyenne in 1994. She got her Bachelor’s in Anthropology from the University of Pittsburgh and went to the University of Connecticut for Medical School. She completed her combined Internal Medicine – Pediatrics Residency training at Loma Linda University in 2009. Since that time, she has worked in many different areas, including inner city adult and pediatric primary care, adult hospital medicine, pediatric urgent care, a home care private practice, international medicine, and disaster response. She moved back to Cheyenne in 2017 to be close to her family and is currently a pediatric hospitalist at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. She enjoys cooking, gardening, martial arts, and family get togethers here in town.
Joyce Larsen, DNP
Joyce completed both her undergraduate and her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at New Mexico State University. She is a Wyoming native, who lived in several different countries overseas, Texas and New Mexico before returning to Cheyenne. She is passionate about accessible, quality care for small communities, integrative medicine, and maternal and infant health. She has experience in Long Term Care, Telemetry, Endoscopy and Primary Care and is delighted to be part of the Stitches team. She is married with two children, and loves traveling, hiking, archery, martial arts, yoga, and immersing herself in a good fantasy novel, especially if it includes dragons.
Jennifer Lombardi, FNP
Jennifer earned her Master’s of Science Degree from Regis University in Denver and is board
certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurse Credentialing Center. She
has over 17 years of nursing experience in a variety of areas including 12 years’ experience in
dialysis. She is available for both Urgent Care and Primary Care needs. In her free time,
Jennifer enjoys fly fishing and backpacking.
Chelsea Meigs, RT, Wellington Clinic Manager

Chelsea was born and raised in Wyoming and has lived in Northern Colorado since 2014. She began working as a file clerk for an Urgent Care/Primary Care Facility in high school finding her niche in the medical field and following in her mother’s footsteps. Chelsea graduated with honors from Laramie County Community College in 2013 where she received her Associates of Applied Science in Radiography. She has been in office management since 2016 and is a COLA certified laboratory manager. She spends her free time with her husband, son and family enjoying the great outdoors and exploring the road less traveled in their Jeep.
Ladeana Ramirez, Cheyenne Clinic Manager, Business Development Director
Ladeana was raised in Cheyenne, WY and is rooted in the local community. She has a passion for making a difference in the lives of others and has pursued this passion through several pathways in her career. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and started her career working with juveniles in a residential treatment setting. Since then she has worked with several populations in a similar environment, as well as working as an emergency services dispatcher. Ladeana has over 10 years of management experience which has afforded her many opportunities in the day-to-day operations of a business. She is excited to join the Stitches Acute Care team and looks forward to serving the patients, staff, and community.
Katie Sanne, FNP
Katie is a graduate of Creighton University. Katie has been in nursing since 2008 and has been working as a Nurse Practitioner for the last 7 years in the primary/acute care setting. Katie has been caring for the population of Cheyenne since 2013. She is available for Urgent Care needs as well as Primary Care. Katie is passionate about adolescent and adult health and helping patients achieve their health goals and best level of wellness.
Outside of work, Katie stays busy spending time with her two daughters and husband. She enjoys camping, sandy beaches, and exercise when she can fit it in!
Lisa Smith-Schohl, PA
Lisa was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. For the last 17 years she has practiced medicine in a wide variety of environments including emergency, pediatrics, family practice, rural, urgent care, and more. She is a graduate of Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL and earned her Master’s from the University of Nebraska. Urgent care and pediatrics are her passions. She and her husband have two teenage sons and she loves hiking, her 12 pets, including a pig, being active at school, running, and spending time together.
Amy Surdam, FNP, COO
Amy has proudly lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming since age 11. She graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1996 with a BSN, and in 2004 with a MSN. She serves in the Army Reserves as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Amy’s talent and passion lies in strategic planning, public relations, public speaking, leadership, connecting people together, and making a difference. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, running, and creating a better tomorrow.
Dan Surdam, MD, CEO
Dr. Surdam was born and raised in Laramie, Wyoming. He graduated from Colorado College in 1997 and Creighton Medical School in 2002. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX. He served at the Medical Director of the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Emergency Department and the Operations Manager of Cheyenne Regional Urgent Care for many years and was previous owner of Frontier Emergency Physicians. Dr. Surdam has owned a billing company and several urgent care centers in Wyoming and Texas. He is a true entrepreneur with a desire to help Wyoming and its people gain better access to quality, affordable healthcare. Dr. Surdam enjoys golf, fishing, travel, and spending time with his family, especially his beautiful wife.
Lisa Western, FNP
Lisa grew up in the Salt Lake City area where she completed both her undergraduate and Doctorate of Nursing Practice at the University of Utah. Lisa is certified with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Lisa served as a registered nurse for 8 years prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, during this time she cared for unique cardiac neonatal cases. Lisa is passionate about primary care, pediatric, adult & women’s healthcare. She feels that every child and adult deserves access to healthcare resources. Since 2016 she has been working in family practice and is excited to join the Stitches Team. When she isn’t working you can find her trail running or backpacking with her husband.
Joslyn Thompson, DNP
Joslyn is a Wyoming native. She is a graduate of the University of Wyoming and received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree while there. Joslyn is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and American Nurses Credentialing Center. Her career has consisted of caring for others in various realms of medicine with ten plus years in acute care centers. Joslyn is thrilled to be a part of Stitches Acute Care team and strives to provide her patients with the highest quality of care.
Janice Weixelman, DO
Dr. Weixelman grew up in Fort Collins and moved to Illinois for awhile, completing nursing school and worked as an emergency room nurse. After medical school, she returned to the area and finished her Family Medicine Residency in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She has worked in Family Medicine and Urgent Care since completing residency, working in Wellington, Red Feather Lakes and Fort Collins. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and has completed fellowships in Emergency Medicine, Aerospace Medicine, Wilderness Medicine and Emergency Ultrasound. She is adjunct faculty with UC Health, a Flight Surgeon in the Air National Guard in Wyoming, and has deployed to Afghanistan, Kuwait and Qatar. For the last 16 years she has served as a member of the Larimer County Search and Rescue Team. She is also member of the Red Feather Lakes Volunteer Fire Department. She loves to educate the public on First Aid awareness and teaches CPR, Wilderness First Aid and Wilderness First Responder as well as Stop the Bleed programs. Whenever she can, she is outside enjoying the outdoors. Dr. Weixelman lives in Livermore with her husband.
Janice Weixelman, DO
Kathy recently moved from Chicago, IL. She and her husband have always dreamed of living close to the mountains and finally found the perfect location in Wellington, Colorado.
Kathy is a “country” girl at heart, having grown up on a farm 2 hours southwest of Chicago.
Kathy has been taking care of patients since 1994 when she graduated from IVCC in Oglesby IL with her associate degree in nursing. Kathy went on to get her BSN from Lewis University in Romeoville, IL in 2005. Kathy continued her education, graduating from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, IL with her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 2010.
Kathy has practiced medicine in a wide variety of environments over the last 26 years. As a nurse, Kathy took care of patients on a medical-surgical unit as well as patients in recovery and surgery. As a physician assistant, Kathy has worked in orthopedic surgery including spine surgery, pain management, and neurosurgery. Kathy has also moon lighted in the ER.
Kathy is passionate about caring for patients, being a patient advocate, and reminding the patient, that they are in charge of their health care. Kathy enjoys taking time to talk with her patients and encourages her patients to speak freely/ask questions; so, together, they can come up with a realistic plan of care.
In her spare time, Kathy enjoys spending time with her husband and pups and doing anything outdoors! She is very excited to be here at Stitches and in Colorado and loves that Wyoming is only 30 minutes away!
